Today we will take a warm walk down the street to the World of Coca-Cola. If you are one of the students already registered on the blog, please post an original reflection of 100-300 words that addresses one of the following ideas

  • Behavior of Americans on the way to and inside the facility
  • The impact of Coca-Cola on Atlanta
If you are not registered on the blog yet, send an email to me (prorabaugh AT gmail.com) AND post a 50-100 comment on one of your peers' posts. I will open another post tomorrow about the newspaper project and and another about the use of Twitter.

  1. Hi, I enjoyed a short trip to the World of Coca-Cola very much! In my opinion, the Coca-Cola has been focused more on the advertising rather than improving Coca-Cola’s taste. The museum was very good at using positive image words, smiling, and giving people confidence of having Coca-Colas.

Food and drink companies in Japan usually promote their products as healthy or delicious. This means that they focus on taste or contents. On the other hand, Coca-Cola’s museum never showed that what is included in the Coca-Cola. Movies and posters showed “Secret ingredient” again and again.

The Coca-Cola uses their products as kind of “name-bland items” because, in their movie and TV commercials, I saw a lot of cool images of men and women who had Coca-Colas in their hand. Also, interesting thing for me is they do not use a famous actor on commercials. Ordinary cheerful people have a Coca-Cola. This impressed me that a Coca-Cola is easy to get and every people like it.

These are the points that I am interested in advertising practices of Coca-Cola. Thank you!

  3. Today , we have a trip to Coca Cola , a wonderful world that describes the differences between China and America . It's amazing that Coca Cola has been existing for 125 years . How can it be a successful company like that !

Firstly , what I found the most interesting is that Coca Cola has a totally different appearance compared with the Cola produced in China . I think it's the first thing respects the culture differences between China and America ---- the differences in people's taste . For people lives in current China , the appearance hold a big part of the quality of a product , if a product's appearance isn't so attractive , there might be people who want to buy it , but the amount will decrease a lot . It means that Chinese focus more on refinement , however , Americans focus more on the quality .

Secondly , the big companies all having their own working styles and company cultures also features the Amercian Popular Culture . From my view point , the success of Coca Cola contributes a lot to its own company culture . The staff who indorduced Coca Cola to us was full of passioin , and because of this , we could really go into the world of Coca Cola and enjoy ourselves in this megic world . We had a look of all kinds of Cola connected products stored in the Cola Center , and the more interesting , a movie showed the people's attitudes to Cola from the whole world , it seems wonderful that Coca Cola is accepted by the whole world . Althouh their responses to the cola are not the same with others , their preference to Coca Cola is obvious .

And the last , the souvenirs of Cola makes it a unforgettable experience for visitors who have ever been to the World of Coca Cola . This company has produced a working style of its own and get profit from each of its production line .

In a brief , the world of Coca Cola impressed me and let me have a sight of the pop culture of the U.S. and Cola's hometown ---- Atlanta , it's a woderful world !

  5. Well, the trip to the world of Coca Cola really impressed me not only by the cool stuffs we saw but also the meaning hiding behind those products and the history. Personally, the World of Coca Cola is something really working like icon, to those people inside, it conveys the glorious history and wonderful side of the products; to people outside the facility all around the world, this would be a place they want to see and explore. In a word, the World of Coca Cola is the icon of the icon, which represent the coke.It may not make a lot profit comparing the retails of coke around the earth, but it do make a great influence on people's mind.

  6. Last Wednesday we had a wonderful trip to the World of Coca Cola. This trip reminded me of a similar experience. Many years ago, I used to visit a Pepsi producing plant where I knew how a bottle of soda pop is produced, however, that place is just a plant and didn’t left me a strong impression. On the contract, the World of coca cola is kind of like an indoor amusement park. The tour guides there are full of passion while they were taking photos for us as well as doing explanations to us which I think is a good way of advertising. I’ve found many new ideas in the World of Coca Cola such as the 4D film and having a collection of all flavors for people to taste. Coca Cola has a history of 125 years, the taste doesn’t change while the idea of advertising always change, maybe that’s why people are not fed up of it. During the visiting, what attract me are the variety brands Coca Cola has and the variety flavors it has created all over the world. I’m interested in how those flavors are created and what the inspirations are.
What’s more, I don’t think drinking soda pop benefits our health no matter what it contains and I consider water the best. Therefore I seldom buy them. Definitely I don’t mind tasting so many kinds of flavors. It’s absolutely a new and fancy experience.

  7. The trip to the World of Coca-Cola gives me a opportunity to enclose the famous drink company Coca-Cola, one of a symbol of American popular culture. I think the most depressed thing during the tour is the brand culture of Coca-Cola. It is the brand culture to make it selling all over the world for 125 years.

The brand culture is both in the tour of the World of Coca-Cola and all its products. When we entered the Coca-Cola world, the screen showed people from different counties with different cultures were all enjoying drinking Coca-Cola. In the bottles as well, it says “Drink Coca-Cola””Enjoy Coca-Cola”. The ads of the company also emphasize on the enjoyments of drinking instead of the nutrition or some other things. As a proverb says “When lies be repeated a hundred times, it comes true.” though it may lack of support of it, it takes effect. When people drink Coke, they image the feeling of the ads subjectively. As a result, Coke becomes a simple necessary of people’s daily life. So it sells.

After the tour, when someone asks me why the Coke can sell well for 125 years I think I have the answer. It is the brand culture. It is the saying “Enjoy Coca-Cola” to make you believe it is enjoyable. And then you drink it.

  8. The trip to the World of Coca-Cola is so interesting that leave me a very deep impress in my memory.

As we enter the building, we saw a large screen advertising cartoon movie. To my surprise, at the end of the movie, the screen pulled up, a door to the center of the building apeared in front of us, once behind the screen.

The flavors of the Coca-Cola drink that I noticed were about 50 kinds. I drink every flavor for only a little so that I taste all kinds of the drink. Some of them taste really good, but some make me very uncomfortable.

The 4D short movie is also an impressive part of the fantasy trip to the World of Coca-Cola. It’s really amazing that I can feel I am just in the right place in the movie.

I love the World of Coca-Cola.

  9. The trip to the World of Coca-Cola was really unforgettable. What impressed me most is the theme of the Coca-Cola company, that is, happiness. Why could this beverage company be so successful and why could this kind of magic beverage be so attractive around the world? Perhaps the advertising does influence people a lot to choose Coca Cola, which could bring “happiness” according to the slogan on the bottle.

Nowadays, the competition between companies has become more furious than ever before. What kind of advertisement attracts people mostly? What kind of company culture in Coca-Cola affects the prospect of the whole beverage industry? After my trip to the World of Coca Cola, I got partly of the answer. It puts much of the emphasis on people’s sense of self-identity, at the same time, Coca Cola company are trying to influence people’s sense of happiness by adding this element into their advertising practice. When visitors entered the World of Coca Cola, there would be an film called” "Happiness Factory” showed to them. The plot of the animation centers on the creation of a chilled Coke bottle . The animal characters are so cute and smart, which really brought us a lot of fun and happiness. The concept of “Happiness” are now spreading around the world and even gradually becoming a represent of culture of Coca Cola company. In 2009, the "Open Happiness" slogan spread globally. It could be seen in stores, on billboards, in TV spots and printed advertising along with digital and music components.

I googled some information about the slogan history of the company. It would not be difficult to find that this company emphasize on providing people with fresh and happy feelings when drinking this beverage. The magic efficiency is perhaps not due to the ingredient of cola, but rather the powerful influence of advertisement.

  10. According to a survey conducted in China, the most popular three word in the world are "God","She", and "Coke". The fact is that after we adopted the "open policy" to the foreign countries, one of the most popular thing which never be rejected is the Coke. The Coke story begins in Atlanta, Georgia on May 8, 1886, when a pharmacist called Dr John Smith Pemberton first mixed Coca-Cola in his back yard. For more than one hundred years people have refreshed themselves by this amazing drink.

It is said by someone that the history of Coke is the history of its advertising. The advertisment of Coca-cola is so success that it became such a potent symbol of American society. In the world of Coca-cola, I watched the movie about the advertisement from different countries in the world. These advertisements always focus on the innovation as well as the daily life or the culture of the particular country. For example, the advertisement in China during the Olympic games period uses red to be the theme which is the common characteristic of Coke and China. It is a brilliant idea since Chinese people are more likely to be attracts by red and it is easier to impressed consumers with Coke's brand.

  11. The impact of Coca-Cola on Atlanta

As the original place where Coca-Cola was born, Atlanta is sure to be influenced by Coca-Cola a lot.

During this trip,I've seen so many impacts of Coca-Cola on Atlanta. On our way to the center of Atlanta, we've seen another skyscraper which has a huge Coca-Cola logo on it. I think that is another base of Coca-Cola in Atlanta. We also passed some bulletins which serve for commercial use by Coca-Cola. There are just plenty of Coca-Cola logos everywhere in Atlanta. I think Coca-Cola has already become part of people's life in Atlanta, which is irreplaceable.

When we got into the center of Coca-Cola, I was deeply moved by the hospitality of the staff there. I also saw a lot of native residents from Atlanta. Even though they have already been to the center of Coca-Cola for some times, they are still visiting it with great passion. I think that reflects the impact of Coca-Cola on Atlanta very well. People always have endless passion for Coca-Cola, even if they are already so familiar with it.

Another aspect that serves as an example would be Coca-Cola's availability in almost every restaurant in Atlanta. In China, we have almost the same popularity for Pepsi-Cola and Coca-Cola. However, in Atlanta, wherever we go, we will find Coca-Cola. Pepsi is just so rare that I only find it at one restaurants--Arby's. That's very interesting and also understandable. People in Atlanta just love Coca-Cola so much.

Then what is the cause for such popularity? I think there are two reasons. For one thing, Atlanta is where Coca-Cola was born. People here certainly will support their own brand. For another, Coca-Cola is so good at advertising. The use of Santa Claus and polar bears in its advertisements is so wonderful.

Honestly, I’ve also become a fan of Coca-Cola now.

  13. Firstly, I have to acknowledge that the company is really full of business savvy. Coca-Cola, one of the most successful companies, holds this amazing palace not only makes a huge income, but also advertises itself via such a special way.

Crowed people lined up in a queue, walked in the exhibition halls, learned the history of Coca-Cola, and watched 4D film. Everything attracted people so much that they talked with each other in such an excited and happy atmosphere. The huge bottles we can see at the first step into the hall are so colorful that tell us the theme of Coca-Cola, the “Happiness”, directly. That enthusiastic guide tells us the history of this company which has already experienced 125 years of brilliance.

Everyone likes 4D film very much that gave us a new feel that we’ve never had. It was so magical that the story in the film seemed happened around us actually which is different from any film I’ve seen before.

The most interesting thing I want to talk about is the Coke Polar Bear. It was so cute and looked like a real bear that I spend a long time waiting for taking pictures with it. It stood and hugged me when we took picture which impressed me deeply. I do not know whether the actor wearing in that thick fur clothes felt uncomfortable or not, but his kind to everyone is the thing I appreciate the most. I think this is also an element of the purpose of Coca-Cola that makes you happy and comfortable.

Such a wonderful trip let me knew more about the brand Coca-Cola and tasted various kind of coke I’ve never heard before. It’s really an important symbol of American popular culture.

  14. I’d like to take about the advertising practices of Coca-Cola.

Inside the magnificent building of the World of Coca-Cola, there’re numerous pieces of ads hanging on the walls as well as appearing on the screen. After we step into each hall, a vivid presentation introducing history about coca-cola will take place on time. And it also prepares a 4D film concerning coca for us visitors. At last, it’s free for us to enjoy different types of coca, along with all the products of coca-cola company. In my opinion, this part makes us feel coca-cola company is generous and the coca itself is popular around the world. To some extent, it also belongs to a kind of advertisement.

From my point of view, the advertising is very successful all over the world. Especially in the US, it stands for hope and happiness. This seems senseless, but in fact every American agrees with this point. If they feel tired or gloomy, just a cup of coca-cola works well, which helps refresh them. We all know that the magical phenomenon results from the advertisement. Because it has persuaded people to believe the coca has an amazing effect since long before. Also, it has made drinking coca a habit for large quantities of people for quite a few years. Some people would rather drink coca than drink water. There’s a fact that although the food all over the world varies from one place to another, coca-cola tastes always the same.

All in all, coca-cola really pays through the nose for advertisement. As a result, we can easily arrive at a conclusion that the advertising of Coca-Cola is really perfect!
